How long have you worked with Kidzsmart for?

Almost two years now.

If you read it on our social media or website, I probably wrote it!

Why did you join the company?

Before joining the marketing world, I worked in the service industry for many years. I managed and served in a popular family restaurant, so I have a well-rounded understanding of the challenges families face and the things they value when going out to eat. Restaurants made up a large chunk of Kidzsmart’s clients when I applied for the job, so I felt that creating family-friendly content here would be a great fit for me. I also love how much importance they place on diversity and inclusion when it comes to the characters in the programs and the families engaging with them – making sure every child feels seen and represented in their kids’ programs.

What do you like about working at Kidzsmart?

There are so many things that I love about working at Kidzsmart. The company culture is great, and I feel like we work really well together as a team. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses in life and our team is always there to help other departments where we can when there are things our coworkers are struggling with. I think a lot of us have similar goals and values too; this inspires us to work hard so that the company succeeds.

I’m also really impressed with how much the company has grown and evolved since I started working here almost two years ago. Through really stepping back and thinking about what kids and families need right now, we’re focusing a lot of our time and resources on kids’ health and wellness so that we can make even more of a positive impact on the lives of families.

Lifelong learning is important at Kidzsmart too. As I mentioned earlier, we all have our strengths and weaknesses, and our team sees education as really important. Not knowing how to do something isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it’s always an opportunity for growth.

At Kidzsmart we focus on creative family content that is both entertaining and educational, it’s more than just another activity book for kids.

Tell us about one of your favorite projects so far.

I had a lot of fun working on the Pizza Hut BOOK IT! program. It’s a literacy program that encourages kids to read more by rewarding accomplishments with praise, recognition, and pizza. The program reaches over 14 million students annually and Kidzmart has played a part in making this happen for 13 years now. I began reading for fun when I was young and am still an avid reader to this day, so it’s nice that I get to help encourage this generation of kids to do the same!

What are you looking forward to at the moment?

I’ve started a project that focuses on encouraging young girls to get involved and stay involved in STEAM, which is super interesting. I’m hoping to get that finished in the next couple of months. We’re partnering with some experts in the health and wellness sectors to help with our content soon too, and I’m really excited to meet with some of them to work on mental health content for kids. I’m also doing some training now to upskill, and I’m looking forward to implementing what I’ve learned and seeing some positive results here.

What are the values that drive you?

I would say that some of my core values are open-mindedness, understanding, and growth.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

You can usually find me skateboarding, reading, and watching embarrassing amounts of reality TV. I’m also a dedicated plant mom and love trying out new vegan recipes!

What is your favorite quote or piece of advice you’ve received?

I’m a sucker for a good positive affirmation or quote, and actually have a couple of them tattooed on me. But I think my favorite is the very simple “never a failure, always a lesson”.
