Meet our Director of Business and Partnership Development, Darren Paul
How long have you worked with Kidzsmart?
Nearly 23 years!
What is your role?
My new role as Director of Business & Partnership Development enables me to bring my experience and enthusiasm for creative, to prospects and partners.
Why did you join the company?
Back in my twenties I was a cartoonist looking for consistent work opportunities. I met Kidzsmart’s founding team in 1999 and never looked back!
What do you like about working at Kidzsmart?
Kidzsmart has afforded me opportunities to learn and develop new skills as technological advancements unfolded over the past 20 years. I’m fortunate to have been involved with many different company aspects, from 3D design and sound recording to marketing and business development. In the process I’ve met many great, creative people from all around the world. In my current role, connecting clients and partners with similar outreach goals to collaboratively develop effective and engaging programs is very rewarding.
What are you looking forward to at the moment?
We’ve recently rebranded with a re-energized outlook and mission. I’m encouraged by the response and look forward to increasing awareness around our approach and sharing our work as broadly as possible.
What are the values that drive you?
Bringing a positive and supportive approach to all situations is a value I strive to uphold.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I’m a parent with a busy family and we all enjoy spending time outdoors, especially in the summer. Playing different musical instruments is a shared hobby - so things can get pretty noisy around here!
What is your favorite quote or best piece of advice you’ve been given?
Some sage advice from a mentor during my days as an illustrator… "Be the kind of person that others like to work with, and you’ll always be busy."
